Minister of Health Ahmed Naseem on Tuesday stated the ministry will send to the Ministry of Finance and Treasury to start the bidding process before the end of June, in order to find a contractor for the new building of Noonu Manadhoo Atoll Hospital.

While speaking at the ongoing Parliament session, the representative of the Manadhoo constituency Ahmed Haroon questioned the minister about the delays in the hospital’s work.

Responding to this, Minster Naseem said that in 2020 when the project was tendered, the proposals received were pricy. He added that the work has haled due to this.

However, the minister revealed that right now the funds needed for the project have been arranged under Bank of Maldives’ (BML) financing. He stated that before the end of June, it will be sent to the Finance Ministry for tendering.

Additionally, the Health Minister noted that as part of solving the space constraints faced by Manadhoo Atoll Hospital, work has been completed on six new OPD rooms and a laboratory.
