Maldives Police Service on Thursday advised those going to Eid al-Adha prayers to walk to the areas allocated for the prayers, as many areas in Male’ City would be closed off during that time.

During a press conference held earlier to address traffic-related issues, Superintend of Police Hussain Sameer said that the wise thing would be to walk to the prayers.

He went on to state that when such a large crowd is gathering to pray together, it would make it hard to find parking space for all the vehicles.

“In order to pray Eid in the mass congregation, Police will close off the area. We request everyone to walk.”

Mass prayer for Eid al-Adha will be held at Male’ City, Vilimale’ and Hulhumale’ from the Greater Male’ Region.

In this regard, the locations for the mass prayer are Maafanu Stadium in Male’ City, Hulhumale’ Stadium (Synthetic Track) and Vilimale’ Stadium.

Male’ City Council has also made the decision to observe a two-hour vehicle ban on Saturday and Sunday in conjunction with the Eid holidays.
