President to visit four islands in the north next week

The President’s Office, on Thursday, announced that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih will be undertaking an official visit to four northern islands next week.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday Afternoon, the President’s Office’s Spokesperson Miuvaan Mohamed detailed that the four islands President Solih will be visiting as HA. Utheemu, HDh. Dhidhdhoo, HDh. Finey and HDh. Navaidhoo.

He is set to depart for the trip next Monday, and return on Wednesday.

“The President is scheduled to meet the councils and Women’s Development Committees (WDCs) of those islands. In addition to this he will also meet the residents to inquire about their wellbeing and the island,” Miuvaan had said.

Miuvaan said that the President will be inspecting some government projects on those islands. In this regard, he will inspect the progress of water and sewerage projects underway at the islands, and the implementation of Raajje Transport Link (RTL) high-speed ferry service successfully established in northern atolls.

Apart from this, President Solih will also be attending the official ceremony held to mark this year’s National Day at HA. Utheemu on Tuesday night.

In August, the President undertook an official visit to some islands in Meemu Atoll where he held meetings with the island councils and WDCs.
