Siyam thanks MDA members after party meets 10,000-member mark

The leader of Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) Ahmed Siyam Mohamed thanked the members of his party on Monday, for their successful efforts to meet 10,000 member mark.

He thanked MDA members in a tweet Monday evening.

“I thank the party’s deputy leaders, national council members, secretariat, and the ordinary members of the party for your sincere hard work to boost party membership from the bottom of my heart. Congratulations!” he said.

MDA’s deputy leader Dr. Aishath Rafiyya told Sun the Elections Commission (EC) confirmed the party met the 10,000-member mark on Sunday.

She described the success in boosting membership numbers in a short time span as a huge achievement.

“Our target is to meet the 15,000-member mark by the end of this month,” she said.

MDA is targeting boosting membership to 30,000 by the end of the year.

There’s great hope MDA will achieve the target, said Rafiyya.

Siyam, who has announced his candidacy for the 2023 presidential elections, has renewed efforts to strengthen his party. He has stated that he plans to run for presidency without coalition partners, and is confident he will win the election in the first round.
