A team of some of Germany’s most prominent journalists and bloggers have visited Maldives at the invitation of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives) to experience the world-class hospitality and sustainable offerings awaiting tourists in the “Sunny Side of Life”.

The team arrived in the Maldives on May 29.

They began their trip by attending the Visit Maldives Storytellers’ Conference 2023, held from May 30-June 2. The conference brought together over 70 content creators from around the world to ‘Weave Your Maldivian Story’ at the largest gathering of travel writers, journalists, bloggers, influencers, and media experts in the Maldives this year.

The team from Germany consists of four journalists representing four publications and one PR representative from German speaking markets (Germany, Switzerland, Austria).

The team stayed at Le Meridien Maldives Resort & Spa and W Maldives during their trip.

After the conference, the team began their familiarization trip, gaining first-hand experiences of Maldivian hospitality through local life experiences, focusing on affordable luxury and sustainability.

The team will share their experiences with their extensive audiences through online articles, publications, and social media platforms.

With the combined reach of the media members, the generated content is expected to exceed a reach of 2,568,000.

Visit Maldives expects the trip will help to build greater brand awareness and promote the Maldives as a sustainable destination.

According to Visit Maldives, the familiarization trip is part of its marketing strategy for German speaking markets, with a focus on promoting the different products, experiences and trends of Maldives tourism.

The German market is currently ranked the top 4th source market, with 61,674 arrivals as of June 6.

Visit Maldives states it has big plans to further boost arrivals from the German speaking markets this year with a series of campaigns and promotions.
