Presidential elections 2023: Voters’ registry publicized, open for complaints

Elections Commission (EC), following the publicization of the registry of eligible voters for the upcoming presidential elections, has begun accepting complaints regarding the registry.

The voters’ registry was publicized on EC’s website and the government gazette on Sunday. Furthermore, the registry will be available for viewing at local councils across all residential islands.  

EC, in an announcement on Sunday, said they will be accepting complaints regarding the registry till next week’s Thursday.

Complaints can be submitted between 8:30am and 3:00pm on all working days. Complaints can be submitted on non-working days between 9:00am and 3:00pm. Meanwhile, complaints can be submitted on Fridays between 3:00pm and 5:00pm.

Complaints, if from Male’ area, can be submitted to the focal point of the election, Dharubaaruge. Complaints, if from residential islands outside of Male’, can be submitted to the local councils of the respective islands.

The complaint form will be available on EC’s website and council secretariates.

With less than 90 days to go for the presidential elections, EC is undertaking various preparatory efforts. The election is slated for September 9th.
