MNDF’s official website ‘hacked’

MNDF's website as seen now.

The official website of the Maldivian National Defence Force (MNDF) was ‘hacked’.

The content on the site was edited to display pictures of former German soldiers from the time when Adolf Hitler was in power. The soldiers had visible  ‘Swastikas’ on their arms, and the images were captioned ‘Hail Hitler’.

Addressing this, a media official from MNDF said that there was an issue, and stated that they were currently looking into the matter. However, the official highlighted that they were unable to say with certainty if the website was hacked.

The pictures are no longer visible on the website.

Government websites are targeted by hackers, and although not a frequent occurrence, they sometimes get successful as well.
