Former Tourism Minister and former leader of Jumhoory Party (JP) Ali Waheed, on Friday, met with the current leader of JP, Qasim Ibrahim.

The meeting took place at Sun Island Resort, owned by Qasim.

Speaking to Sun regarding the meeting, JP’s Spokesperson Ali Solih said both Ali Waheed and Qasim closely discussed various matters, while Ali Waheed also briefed Qasim regarding his circumstances.

However, Ali Solih did not disclose any further details regarding the meeting.

Ali Waheed returned to Maldives on Tuesday afternoon after almost three years following Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO)’s decision to file the case against him after victims and witnesses in the sexual misconduct allegations case against him sent a letter to the PGO and the police, requesting the authorities to drop the case.

Ali Waheed was dismissed from his post as the leader of JP after amending the articles of association of the party.

Ali Waheed, who worked closely alongside Qasim and other opposition political leaders as they sought political asylum in the UK during 2018’s presidential election, still remains a member of JP.
