President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has called upon the Maldivian people to build the nation on a foundation of peace and harmony, leaving a legacy of economic and social prosperity for future generations.

He made the appeal on Tuesday, in an address on occasion of the Islamic New Year 1445.

In his address, the president highlighted on the significance of Hijra, where Prophet Mohamed and Muslims migrated from Makkah to Madinah in search of happiness and tranquility.

He emphasized that peace in Madinah allowed the Muslim community to flourish.

He called for reflection on the lessons of Hijra during the Islamic New Year.

“As the Maldivian Ummah wakes to a dawn of new heights in national development, our goal must be to build the nation on a foundation of peace and harmony. It must be to remain happy and safe as we live our lives, and leave a legacy of economic and social prosperity for future generations,” he said.

He also underscored the importance of discarding petty jealousies and rivalries, and remaining united by prioritizing national interests above all else.

He extended warm greetings and sincere wishes for the Islamic New Year to the Maldivian people, leaders of Islamic nations, and Islamic organizations.

He also prayed for the new year to bring blessings and happiness to the Maldives, its people, and the rest of the Islamic world.
