President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has concluded his campaign tour of 14 islands in Sh. Atoll in his bid to get re-elected for a second term in office.

His last stops were Kanditheem and Goidhoo.

Addressing a campaign rally in Goidhoo, the president expressed hope the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) will secure a greater victory from the island.

“70 percent of Goidhoo supported our coalition back in 2018. It wasn’t just the people of Goidhoo that benefited from this decision. Goidhoo played a role in this change we brought to the entire Maldives,” he said.

“In Sha Allah, the vote the people cast on September 9 will support a happy and safe Maldives we are journeying towards.”

The president said that if elected for a second term, he will:

  • Develop the roads of Goidhoo
  • Conduct a coastal protection project
  • Expand the capacity to generate electricity

“I don’t have to explain more. I’m sure you have already made your decision. I ask that you produce a greater result than the last presidential election,” he said.

The president reiterated his confidence in an easy victory again during his visit to Kanditheem.

“You have always supported the MDP coalition. I have no doubt in a greater victory from this district than before,” he said.

He added that his top priority had been to develop the islands that had been sidelined during previous administration.

“This is why we had so much to do in this atoll,” he said.

The president said that if elected for a second term, he will:

  • Develop the roads of Kanditheem
  • Develop a designated area for water sports
  • Install a new electricity system
  • Build a handball court
  • Upgrade the harbor
  • Build additional classrooms in the school

Kanditheem was the sixth island he visited Tuesday.
