Qasim forgives all student loans issued personally and through his company

Villa Group’s Chairman, Jumhoory Party’s leader, and presidential candidate Qasim Ibrahim have forgiven all outstanding student loans issued by him in his personal capacity and through his company.

Qasim, on Wednesday night, said the outstanding loans of all students who have studied are studying on loans issued by him in a personal capacity and through Villa Company and Villa Foundation, have been forgiven effective today.

“While the number of students who have studied or are studying with help, I have provided nears 8,000 – that is the work I have done, in the scorching heat, away from my family. This, for sure, is approximately a billion Maldivian Rufiyaa.” he said.

Qasim has previously forgiven all loans issued to students pursuing education in medicine, nursing, and healthcare. The announcement to forgive these loans was made on May 25, 2021.

The business mogul said if elected, the priority of administration will be the education sector. In line with this, his manifesto launched tonight, included a number of pledges for the development of the education sector.
