MNU celebrate golden jubilee with fun games

An event was held today to celebrate Maldives National University’s golden jubilee.

This event was held from 06:45 am to 09:45 am at the Maafannu stadium. To kick off the festivities that were attended by lecturers and students of MNU, a special flag-raising ceremony was held. The First Lady of Maldives, Fazna Ahmed, attended the ceremony as the chief guest. 

After the flag-raising ceremony, all participants took a photo where they came together to spell “MNU 50”.

All participants of the event came together to form "MNU 50".

Speaking to Sun about the activities held today, Vice Chancellor of MNU, Hussain Haleem said that this event was received very well. He said that as the main reason for the games that were played at the event was to foster togetherness and to have fun together, the games that were included in the event were made sure to be fun.

"People nearby can’t help but laugh at these games. We planned games that include fun things,” Haleem said.

He said that the games were planned by the different faculties of MNU. These games include slip-and-slide football, musical chairs, and racing with a lemon on a spoon.

There were events held yesterday to celebrate MNU’s golden jubilee. The events started with early morning prayers at Salman Mosque after which lecturers and students came together for a march.

The march started from the Marine Drive, north of the Salman Mosque.

The marchers started from Marine Drive and proceeded near Villa College and ended at the main campus of MNU.

After the march, a flag-raising ceremony was held at MNU.
