Two buses will be used for this service in Dhidhdhoo.

MTCC said that while these buses can seat 22 people, there are handles for 10 people to board and stand in the bus and so the bus has a total capacity of 32 passengers at one time.

He further said that because the school is on the south side of the island, the students that live on the newly reclaimed northern part of the island have to walk or travel in the heat to get to school and that with the introduction of the bus service, the students will greatly benefit from it.

“Even when the bus service first started yesterday, many students had queued up for the bus,” Abdulla Rasheed said.

Along with the introduction of the bus service, passengers will be able to travel on the buses for free for the first week of service. MTCC said that after the first week, passengers can get QR tickets from the RTL website and app.
