Sale of cheese that has a chance of being contaminated banned

A type of cheese.

The Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has banned the sale of a French cheese in Maldives due to the possibility of contamination with the bacterium E. coli.

The MFDA has banned the import, sale and use of the product, which expires on the third of this month.

The cheese was banned because of the possibility of contamination.

MFDA said in a statement today that the World Health Organization's International Food Safety Authority Network and Europe's Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed have informed the authority that this type of cheese has been imported into Maldives.

In addition, MFDA said they are working to identify the food safety risks posed by the product.
