Muizzu says the country needs a sustainable system of development based on fairness. He says he will formulate medium and long-term goals for this, and will allow the public to share their views.

Muizzu says the new passenger terminal at the Velana International Airport will open soon, which will boost tourist arrivals.

Muizzu says he will not allow any government influence in the judiciary.

The aim of this presidential term will be to instill knowledge, skills, discipline, religious faith, and good etiquette among Maldivian children, says Muizzu.

Muizzu says that this day marks the first time in ages, for the Maldivian people to embark on a journey towards “the Maldives of the Maldivian people.”

President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu arrives at the Republic Square. He is accompanied by his spouse Saajidha Mohamed.

Vice President-elect Hussain Mohamed Latheef arrives at the Republic Square. He is accompanied by his spouse Aishath Afreen and daughter.

Chief Justice Muthasim Adnan arrives. He will be administering Muizzu’s oath of office.

Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe and First Lady Maithree Wickremesinghe arrive at the ceremony.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed arrive at the Republic Square.

Guests have begun arriving for the ceremony.

Arrivals so far include former Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed, former Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik and his spouse, Ilhaam Hussain, Speaker Mohamed Aslam and his spouse, Vice President Faisal Naseem and spouse Aishath Shamsadha.

Once the Cabinet ministers are appointed, Muizzu will present letters of appointment to top officials at the President’s Office.

The members of Muizzu’s cabinet will take their oath of office at 07:45 pm at the President’s Office.

Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and Hussain Mohamed Latheef will be inaugurated as the new Maldivian President and Vice President, respectively.

The ceremony is set to begin at the Republic Square in Male’ City at 04:45 pm.
