Mughnee’s name omitted from new composition of PCB

Former managing director of State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) who was appointed a member of the Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) on Thursday has been dismissed from the post.

PCB, on X, posted the names of the new members appointed to the board on Tuesday. Mughnee’s name was not included on the list.

The current composition of PCB is as follows;

  • Hamdi Ageel - President
  • Mohamed Firash - Vice-President
  • Ahmed Mushthaq - Member (Accounting and Finance Sector)
  • Leena Abdul Jaleel - Member (Banking Sector)
  • Moosa Fathhee Adam - Member (Business Administration Sector)
  • Hassan Zareez - Member (Economics Sector)
  • Ahmed Nashath - Member (Legal Sector)

Mughnee has previously held senior posts in both government and private companies. During the former administration, he first served as STELCO’s managing director before being appointed Minister of State for Environment, Climate Change and Technology.

At the moment, the reason behind President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s decision to dismiss Mughnee remains unclear.
