Hulhumale’ MP Ali Niyaz has proposed to summon Housing Minister Dr. Haidar Ali to the parliament for questioning, in order to clarify how MVR 200,000 from the expenses incurred for the finishing works of Hiyaa apartments will be reimbursed to the owners.

MP Niyaz said incumbent President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, during his presidential campaign, pledged to reimburse MVR 200,000 from the expenses incurred for the finishing works of Hiyaa apartments to the owners.

Citing the pledge, MP Niyaz requested to clarify the plan for reimbursing the expenses and the timeframe under which the initiative will be completed.

Urbanco’s Managing Director Fazul Rasheed, on Tuesday, assured that Hiyaa owners will be reimbursed for the finishing works, as pledged, at a time rumors claiming President Muizzu’s decision against reimbursing the residents for the finishing works have gone viral.

At an event held in Hulhumale’ during the presidential campaign, President Muizzu said MVR 200,000 from the expenses incurred for the finishing works of Hiyaa apartments will be reimbursed through a loan withdrawn by Urbanco.

President Muizzu said this had been the plan of former president Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom’s administration, which developed the social housing units.
