President Muizzu meets IsDB’s chief, discusses strengthening partnership

President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser has paid a courtesy call on Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

The meeting took place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Saturday, on the sidelines of the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28).

During the meeting, they discussed close collaboration on mutually beneficial areas, with a focus on the growth of the Islamic financial sector, the construction of a Zakat House, a Waqf program, and the establishment of a Microfinance Bank.

Both President Muizzu and Al Jasser expressed a shared interest in strengthening the partnership between the Maldives and the IsDB in the days ahead, to further enhance and facilitate the existing ties.

President Muizzu has met a number of world leaders on the sidelines of the COP28, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pakistan Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, and Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda Gaston Browne.
