STO products issued ‘Hakathari’ label

State Trading Organization (STO)'s supermart in Male' City, STO People's Choice.

The Environment Ministry has issued ‘Hakathari’ labels to several products sold by the State Trading Organization (STO).

According to the ministry, the labels were issued for 15 models of refrigerators and an additional four models of air conditioners under the ‘Hakathari’ program - launched to ensure that electrical appliances that enter the Maldivian market meet the necessary energy efficiency standards.

The program also allows consumers to identify the energy efficiency levels of appliances.

The appliances covered under the program are air conditioners, refrigerators and washing machines.

According to the Environment Ministry, 14 models of air conditioners and 15 models of refrigerators have been registered under the program to date.

Air conditioners registered under the program received energy efficiency ratings between 4 and 5 stars, while refrigerators have received energy efficiency ratings between 3 and 4 stars.
