Maldives Immigration has announced plans to initiate an operation to crack down on undocumented migrants in the Maldives.

In a statement on Thursday, Immigration said they will be conducting document checks and random inspections in the operation.

Immigration said the purpose of the operation is to take action against migrants who violate immigration laws and regularize undocumented migrants.

“Another purpose of this operation is to take effective measures in collaboration with employers, government institutions, foreign embassies, the general public, and other stakeholders,” said the agency.

“Swift actions will be taken against those who undermine the integrity of the Immigration law.”
