Saif from Democrats submits form for Male’ mayoral by-election

Saif Fathih, the candidate of The Democrats, has submitted his candidacy form for the Male’ mayoral by-election on Wednesday.

Saif is presently the South Galolhu constituency councilor in Male’ City Council. Alongside Saif, candidates contesting in the by-election for vacant posts in Addu City Council on behalf of The Democrats also submitted their forms on Wednesday.

Speaking to the press after submitting the form, Saif said The Democrats’ purpose to transform Male’ City to a “habitable” place.

He said he believes living in Male’ City should not be linked to dissatisfaction, poverty and uncleanliness.

“Therewith, we are contesting with strategies and activities in the pipeline to cross this state,” he stressed.

Saif said he will be disclosing his manifesto, detailing his vision to transform Male’ City, to the public.

Other candidates contesting the by-election – former MTCC CEO Adam Azim, former Attorney General Azima Shakoor and former Commssioner of Police Hussain Waheed – have also submitted their candidacy forms.

The position of Male’ City mayor became vacant after President Muizzu resigned to take office as the Maldivian president in November.

The by-election will be held on January 13.
