Winners of Ooredoo drone race announced

The winners of Ooredoo Drone Race 2023, contested by 12 skilled pilots, have been announced.

Ooredoo said the pilots competed in two categories; Sky Walker and Sky Elite.

Sky Walker category is where eight pilots maneuvered through four challenging obstacles, while the Sky Elite Category upped the difficulty with four pilots navigating nine obstacles to complete two laps in the fastest time.

The winner of the Sky Walker category is Ibrahim Shabil, taking home a DJI Mini 2 SE as a prize. Asham Shareef came in second, winning an Ooredoo 5G AirFibre Device with a 3-month (750GB) package, while Mifzal Ibrahim Fazeel took third place, winning a Moolee Voucher worth MVR 1000.

Mohamed Alin Shafiu won the Sky Elite category, taking home a DJI Mini 3 Pro (DJI RC) as a prize. Hamza Waseem came in second, winning an Ooredoo 5G AirFibre Device with a 3-month (1536 GB) package while Hussain Aloof Riyaz took third place, winning a Moolee Voucher worth MVR 2000.

Ooredoo’s Chief Commercial Officer Hussain Niyaz, congratulating all winners, expressed delight at the successful execution of the first-ever drone race in the Maldives. He also hinted at future editions of the race.

Ibrahim Nihad, the Managing Director of Stabisys Maldives, which partnered up with Ooredoo Maldives for the race, expressed pride in the successful conclusion of the first-ever drone race in the Maldives. He extended gratitude to all participants and supporters, anticipating the growth of FPV racing in the Maldives.

The final of the drone race was held at Hulhumale’ Central Park on Saturday morning.

As the first-ever drone race in the Maldives, Ooredoo noted the event received huge support from the public.
