4,000 flats being developed by FDC to be made tenantable by March

Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) states they are working on making 4,000 flats from the housing towers being developed by the company in Hulhumale’ Phase II tenantable by next year’s March.

FDC had contracted the construction of the housing towers to two Indian companies; NBCC India Limited and JMC Projects (India) Limited. Each company will undertake the construction of 2000 housing units situated in 16 towers, thereby 32 towers in total. They include 2,800 three-room apartments and 1,200 two-room apartments. The towers will have 17 to 18 storeys each.

FDC, on Thursday, gave the press a tour of towers presently under development.

The tour comprised of towers one and 16 contracted to NBCC and towers 12 and 12 contracted to JMC.

As per the corporation, 95 percent of the works on some of these towers are complete and they will be made tenantable by next year’s March.

FDC said the 4,000 flats will be handed over to tenants after completing all mandatory finishing works. In this regard, each flat, at handover, will have fans, windows, doors, toilet and wash basins among such necessities. The flats will be tiled, and the walls be painted, they added.

While the ground floor and the first floor of each tower are allocated for commercial purposes – FDC said they will be considering emerging businesses when leasing space for businesses from the floors. The process will be carried out under a master plan formulated by the company, FDC said.

FDC’s 4,000 flats will be awarded to recipients of flats under the former administration’s ‘Gedhoruveriya’ housing scheme.
