President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, on Sunday, said efforts were ongoing to issue documents confirming the receipt of land and the registries to recipients who have received land from Giraavarufalhu, Gulhifalhu and Hulhumale’ Phase III.

He made the remark while responding to a question posed by a member of the public on the ‘Raees ge Javaabu’ series; a platform that enables the public to get direct responses to their queries from the President via social media.

Ibrahim Samah, in this regard, underscored that details surrounding the land plots allocated from Giraavarufalhu and Gulhifalhu by the previous administration have been unclear following the switch in administrations. Also citing the lack of a document confirming the receipt of land, he appealed to the president to resolve the uncertainties with respect to the matter.

In response, President Muizzu said efforts to prepare documents confirming the receipt of land from Giraavarufalhu and Gulhifalhu were proceeding at a speedy pace. However, he said legally, the registries can only be issued for plots allocated from unreclaimed areas once the reclamation is complete.

“However, efforts are underway to issue a document that confirms the issuance of temporary registry,” he said.

The president further assured that all recipients under the former administration’s ‘Binveriya’ will receive their registries, adding efforts, in this trajectory, are also proceeding at a speedy pace.

18,955 individuals are eligible for land under the former administration’s ‘Binveriya’ scheme. 9,003 land plots will be issued to recipients from Hulhumale’, Gulhifalhu and Giraavarufalhu.

Although the previous administration targeted to hand over the registries before the completion of its term – they had not managed to do so.
