President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on Tuesday embarked on a three-day tour of Th. Atoll.

As promised during his 2023 presidential campaign, the first stop in his tour was Th. Guraidhoo – the island from which he secured the highest percentage votes.

He had previously announced that he would honor the island with his maiden visit as the president.

“We are very happy because he has come to us first after taking office,” said a local from Guraidhoo.

President Muizzu is set to visit nine islands in Th. Atoll over the course of the next three days. After Guraidhoo, he will visit Dhiyamigili, Gaadhiffushi, Veymandoo, Buruni, Kandoodhoo, Vandhoo, Omadhoo, and Kinbidhoo.

During the visits, he is scheduled to meet with residents, local councils, and Women’s Development Committees (WDCs), and discuss pertinent developmental concerns and inquire about the community’s needs.

President Muizzu has said he wishes to work closely with the people and visit all the islands in the Maldives on a regular basis.

He is accompanied on the current tour by a high-level government delegation.
