Young man dies after fall from Male’ high-rise

A young man, who sustained serious injuries after falling down the stairwell of a high-rise building in Male’ City’s Machangolhi district, has died.

According to a police spokesperson, the incident was reported at around 10:30 am on Tuesday.

The spokesperson said the man, identified as a 20-year-old Indian, fell down the stairwell of a building in Chaandhanee Magu.

He sustained serious injuries in the incident, and was taken to the Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

A spokesperson from the hospital said the young man succumbed to his injuries at around 01:40 pm.

According to the police, the young man fell from the ninth floor, all the way to the ground.
