ACPs Naveen, Faruhad appointed deputy commissioners

Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) Faruhadh Fukury and Ismail Naveen were appointed Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) on Friday.

Abdul Mannan Yoosuf and Ali Rasheed who previously held the posts resigned following the change in administration.

Faruhad and Naveen were presented their letter of appointment as DCPs by Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusan during a special ceremony held at Iskandar Koshi on Friday.

Faruhad joined Maldives Police Service on March 30, 1991. In his 32 years on the force, Faruhad has worked across various specializations in the force.

In this regard, he has served as the head of various departments with respect to operations and administrative support. Prior to his appointment as a DCP, he was serving as the acting-Head of Operation Support Command and People’s Directorate.

Naveen who was appointed DPC joined the force on July 7, 1994. In his 29 years on the force – Naveen gas also worked across various specializations in the force.  He has served as the head of various departments with respect to operations and administrative support. He was serving as the Head of Corporate Services Directorate prior to his appointment as a DCP.

Naveen had earlier unsuccessfully applied for the post of police commissioner. However, the Police Board had recommended Ali Shujau, the incumbent commissioner for the post.

In a post on X following ceremony, Minister Ali Ihusan expressed confidence that Faruhad and Naveen will play a crucial role in the development of Maldives Police Service and attaining the goals set out for security. He also congratulated both of them on their appointment.
