President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu states the salaries of Police and MNDF personnel will be increased starting next month.

The second session of the government’s ‘Ahaa’ forum – a platform for the public to engage in discourse and ask questions pertaining to public policy – was held on Friday night. President Muizzu participated in Friday night’s session.

Responding to a question by a member of the public regarding when the salaries of Police and MNDF personnel will be increased – President Muizzu announced his administration’s decision to increase their salaries starting next month without providing any further details.

President Muizzu, while speaking at a rally on September 15th during his presidential campaign, pledged to increase the salaries of Police and MNDF by twice the current rates.

It is also an electoral pledge of former president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih who lost last year’s presidential election. In this regard, he had pledged to enforce the increment starting in January.

The new administration, after assuming office, decided to postpone the increment in light of the economic state.
