Police rescue group of divers adrift at Huvadhoo sea

Marine Police have rescued a group of divers who were spotted stranded in the waters off the uninhabited island of Gan in GDh. Atoll.

According to a police spokesperson, a Marine Police speedboat was travelling from Fuvahmulah to GDh. Atoll on Saturday morning, when officers found a diver adrift in the sea near Gan.

The police rescued the diver, who told them that there were more divers stranded in the area.

The police proceeded to rescue 10 divers and four dive instructors.

According to the police, the 10 divers were Russian nationals, while the dive instructors included three locals.

They were all taken to GDh. Gadhdhoo.

“They are all in safe condition,” said the spokesperson.

The police also towed the boat they were on.
