President: Will visit all islands twice during this term

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, underscoring plans to visit all residential islands across the Maldives in this year, reaffirmed that he will visit all residential islands across the Maldives twice over the course of his five-year term.

The President is presently on a tour of Maldivian atolls.

So far, he has visited Addu City, Fuvahmulah City, Gaafu Alifu Atoll, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, Haa Alifu Atoll, Haa Dhaalu Atoll, Shaviyani Atoll, Noonu Atoll, Raa Atoll, Baa Atoll and Dhaalu Atoll – making stops and selected islands from each. However, he met with the atoll councils and the island councils in all these atolls.

President Muizzu visited M. Mulah as part of this tour on Wednesday. Speaking at a meeting with the residents of the island – the President said he plans to implement projects in the islands as desired by them, which he intends to inquire through these visits by meeting the councils and residents.

“I want to implement the projects as desired by the people, by inquiring these things from the councils, to strengthen the decentralization system in its true meaning and implement the system through actions,” he said.

The President aims to visit all residential islands within this year.

In this regard, President Muizzu said he will meet the residents during his visit and commence projects as desired by them, adding he will undertake follow-up visits in 2026 to inspect how the projects are progressing.

“Will visit all residential islands at least twice during this term and meet the residents,” he emphasized.

The President said his administration is basing its work under this policy, affirming his administration will be working closely with the people.
