Fitr Zakat rates, collection times announced

Maldives Zakat House, on Friday, has announced the times Islamic Ministry will be collecting Fitr Zakat during the month of Ramadan and the online platforms through which Fitr Zakat can be paid.

As per Zakat House, Fitr Zakat can be paid online from March 11th to April 6th through these platforms:

  • Dhiraagu: Dhiraagu application and Dhiraagu pay
  • Ooredoo: M-Faisa application
  • Maldives Islamic Bank: M-Faisa application
  • Bank of Maldives: Portal website
  • FahiPay: FahiPay application
  • Ministry of Finance: Bandeyri Pay

Fitr Zakat can be paid through Badeyri Pay until the last day of Ramadan.

Meanwhile, physical Fitr Zakat collection will proceed at Islamic Ministry’s hall for senior citizens and individuals who are not accustomed to online platforms.

As the last 10 days of Ramadan have been declared government holidays – physical Fitr Zakat collection will proceed from March 12th to March 10th between 9:30am and 1:30pm on all working days. However, collection will also proceed from March 31st to April 11th between 11:00am and 2:00pm, on all days with the exception of Friday and Saturday.

The Fitr Zakat rates are as follows:

  • Normal rice: MVR 12
  • Thailand white rice: MVR 70
  • Red rice: MVR 80
  • Normal basmati rice: MVR 70
  • High quality basmati rice: MVR 100
  • Premium quality basmati rice: MVR 125
  • Normal flour: MVR 10
  • Atta flour: 75

 

Fitr Zakat is a charitable donation of food that is mandatory for all Muslims. The quantity of Fitr Zakat is one saa’ - the equivalent of two hands cupped together - of the staple product the person commonly consumed throughout the year or its monetary equivalent.
