President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, underscoring Maldives has no enmity towards any nations, states all efforts undertaken by his administration are to pave the path for Maldives to stand up on its own feet and be empowered.

He made the remark while speaking at the special ceremony held at N. Maafaru Airport on Friday night for the launching of MNDF’s Air Corp service and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) service.

President Muizzu said no party should be concerned over the fact that Maldives is strengthening its military capabilities, adding the efforts are no way correlated to any enmity towards any party.

“We will maintain close relations with all nations. We are not enemies with any. What is important for us is to pave the way for this proud nation to stand up on its own and remain independent on its own strength,” he said.

President Muizzu said his vision for Maldives to become a nation that is its own feet on all fronts – whether be it economically or military. He stressed that there will be no regional peace without achieving this, citing it to be a belief of everyone.

He added that all nations of a region should be independent when seeking peace and stability in that respective region.

He further said Maldivians should have the opportunity to raise their nation to its own feet in this trajectory.

Speaking at Friday night’s ceremony, President Muizzu said that MNDF’s Air Corp service launched tonight will be further strengthened, for which additional drones will be acquired.

He also noted that Maldives’ maritime area’s hydrography works will be resumed this year under MNDF’s oversight. Additionally, he said MNDF Coastguard’s capacity will be increased by twice by the end of his current term.
