President: New hospital will resolve concerns of Vilimale’ residents

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, on Friday, stated Vilimale’ residents will not be forced to travel to Male’ once the 100-bed tertiary hospital planned to be developed in the district by the current administration is completed.

Ahmed Shifan, a Vilimale’ resident, shared difficulties faced by residents of the district over the low standard of healthcare services provided at Vilimale’ Hospital on the ‘Raees ge Javaabu’ series on Friday; a platform that enables the public to get direct responses to their queries and concerns from the President. 

“Service that should be provided by a health centre is not available at [Vilimale’] Hospital even. In most emergency cases, have to travel to Male’,” he said.

In response, President Muizzu cited improving healthcare services in Vilimale’ as a huge priority for his administration. In this trajectory, he noted that efforts have already commenced to develop a 100-bed tertiary hospital in the district.

Technical works are presently underway on the hospital that is being developed with grant assistance from China. The President further said land has been allocated to construct the hospital, adding that physical work will be commenced as soon as the technical work is complete.

He emphasized that the concerns of Vilimale’ residents will be resolved once the hospital is completed.

“I am assuring you that efforts to construct a 100-bed tertiary hospital, that is of approval standard to Vilimale’ residents, will commence very soon,” he added.

The current administration announced its decision to develop a 100-bed tertiary hospital in Vilimale’ on December 27^th. The project was announced by Health Minister Dr. Abdulla Khaleel.
