Shaheem appointed to the Supreme Council of Muslim World League

Maldives’ Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has been appointed to the Supreme Council of the Rabitat al-Alam al-Islami or Muslim World League (MWL) – an international Islamic NGO based in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

The appointment was made by MWL’s Secretary-General, Dr. Mohamed bin Abdul Kareem al-Eesa.

Shaheem was appointed to the Supreme Council of the MWL - the supreme authority of the NGO, which adopts all plans approved by the General Secretariat.

The Supreme Council of the MWL consists of 60 members: distinguished Islamic figures representing the Muslim peoples and minorities and appointed by the Council decision.

It is headed by the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia and the Chairman of the Supreme Council of Scholars, Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Sheikh.

To work as a member of the Supreme Council is voluntary and its members do not receive a salary or a reward.

The MWL promotes the true message of Islam by advancing moderate values that promote peace, tolerance and love. It is the biggest such Islamic organization in the world.
