Citing paving the way to generate income via natural resources such as land as the main goal for the next five years in the efforts to ensure financial stability for all Meedhoo constituents – MDA’s President, Meedhoo MP Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, who is contesting for re-election in the upcoming parliamentary election, has pledged to accomplish this goal.

Siyam, in his ongoing trip to Meedhoo constituency as part of his campaign, visited Dh. Bandidhoo on Thursday.

Speaking to the residents of the island, Siyam expressed his wishes to see constituents live a stable and happy life. He cited this as his ideology and vision 20 years ago as well.

“I was of the view that humans can be developed through education and training,” Siyam explained as the logic behind his priority on strengthening the island’s education system.

He explained his present view, that only the establishment of the basic services was not enough.

Siyam, underscoring the importance of eliminating poverty from the whole atoll, said only a caring and sincere leader, who is capable and experienced enough, can achieve this.

“I want cooperation from all of you. After the end of this parliament [election], we want the councils of all islands as well. What is this for? It is not because I want it. It is in order to do things for the citizens,” he said.

Speaking further, Siyam pledged to pave the way to maximize natural resources available in the constituency’s islands, and ensure these resources are something the people can profit from. He added that this would establish means to earn an income while based on the island.

Concluding his speech, Siyam said Dhaalu Atoll is the atoll he loved the most, and in this trajectory, said he will always remain committed to the development of the atoll.
