Maldives attracts close to 800,000 tourists in annual terms, so far in 2024.

According to the most recent statistics from the Ministry of Tourism, tourist arrivals reached over 794,000 as of May 04th, 2024 which is a 12.3% increase compared to the same period last year, during which arrivals were little over 707,000.

Russia has moved up a rank, replacing UK to become the second strongest market to the Maldives. UK is now third strongest, with Italy and Germany following behind in fourth and fifth spots.

China maintains dominance with over 87,000 tourist arrivals so far in 2024.

While Maldives achieved its annual arrival target of 1.8 million tourists last year, the country's government has set a 2 million annual arrival target for the current year.

Based on the current momentum, it is likely Maldives will hit and exceed 800,000 annual arrivals before the end of May 2024.

Besides the regular arrivals via air, this year has seen an increment in arrivals via cruise liners as well; with a few more liners scheduled to arrive in the remaining months of 2024.
