New scam using Police logo

Maldives Police Service said on Sunday evening has cautioned the authority's logo is being abused to run a new scam.

Police confirmed scam calls with a contact number bearing the authority's logo have become frequent. The contact number in question is not a foreign number, while police cuationed it would not contact anyone via an international contact.

Scams and fraudulent practice to steal money from unsuspecting victims have become common while the authorities have repeatedly cautioned the public to remain wary of any suspicious calls or texts requesting to divulge sensitive information.
