Siyam: Principle of 'fair play' is key to success in life

Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, Sun Siyam Group of Companies’ Chairman, Managing Director and lawmaker for Meedhoo constituency, states discipline and the principle of ‘fair play’ showcased in the field of sports are key to success in life.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Cuarzo The Mangove Island Football Championship organized by N. Kendhikulhudhoo Council on Wednesday night, Siyam, who also serves as the president of Maldives Development Alliance (MDA), said patience and courage showcased during sports are characteristics that should be applied in real life as well.

In this regard, he stressed that discipline and the principle of ‘fair play’ are key to success in life.

“You will only succeed in real life by applying patience and the spirit of unity we see in this football field,” he added.

Siyam said there can be no progress in a divided society. As such, he underscored the need to foster love, friendship and cooperation when seeking development.

Cuarzo The Mangove Island Football Championship, which concluded last night at Kendhikulhudhoo, was successfully held with significant support from Siyam.

Siyam commended the Kendhikulhudhoo Council and the Women’s Development Committee for their efforts in organizing the competition, describing it as an achievement that all Maldivians should take pride in.

Siyam, highlighting that the championship featured current top football players in the Maldives, expressed hope that such competitions would aid in producing outstanding players needed for the nation.

He added that these players should serve as ambassadors for the sport, given that their performance is at the highest level.

“Such ambassadors should be individuals who achieve success through their own hard work, have good discipline and contribute positively to society. Individuals who should proactively address social issues that come to light,” he stressed.

During Wednesday night’s closing ceremony, Sun Siyam Group signed on as the title sponsor for next year’s championship.

Siyam expressed his hope to see more talented players emerge from Noonu Atoll through competitions like this, affirming his continued support for organizing such events.

He also announced plans to commence work a mosque at Kendhikulhudhoo harbor area, as requested by residents of the island.
