The Maldives Police Service has ruled out any foul play or involvement of a third party in an incident reported on Sunday dawn.
A woman had fallen from a residence in Machchangolhi district in Male’ City on early hours of Sunday.
In a message police shared with local media on Sunday, they received the report of a woman falling from the second floor of a Machchangolhi residence around 04:00hrs. The woman is reportedly 42 years old but no further details about her identity was disclosed.
In response to a question Sun Online raised, police media correspondent affirmed their investigation on the incident did not reveal the involvement of another person.
The woman was transported to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for medical treatment. A media official from IGMH confirmed the woman was treated at the hospital’s Emergency Room (ER).
Police confirmed she had sustained notable injuries including dislocated ankles, but did not provide any further details beyond this.
This is the second such incident of a woman falling from a building reported in recent months, while another incident that involved a 21-year-old woman had become national headline.
The case of Hawwa Yumnu Rasheed, who was discovered on the rooftop of Henveiru Mitaz had garnered widespread public speculation and criticism towards authorities, while investigation into the case had revealed the incident that both the victim and those seen around her on the eve of the incident had been intoxicated.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu had established a special inquiry commission to investigate the case, which recently said they did not discover the involvement of another person in Yumnu’s case.
