President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has articulated the main purpose behind his extensive travels to the islands: to directly engage with local communities, share updates on development projects, listen to their concerns, and base initiatives on the specific needs of the people.

Speaking from Fulhadhoo, part of his ongoing visit to Baa Atoll, the President affirmed that preparations for essential development projects on the island are progressing rapidly. In his address to the residents of Fulhadhoo, he elaborated on his rationale for these island visits.

Highlighting pressing local issues, President Muizzu identified the water and sewerage problem as paramount. He assured the community that work on this critical infrastructure would commence within the current month and be completed with expedited efficiency.

Furthermore, the President acknowledged numerous other projects slated for Fulhadhoo. He specifically noted the challenges in accommodating employees brought to provide various services on the island. He stated that the government would prioritize solving this issue and emphasized the importance of constructing an accommodation block for these employees. This project, he confirmed, would be included in next year's budget.

He also provided assurances that projects in other sectors would proceed as planned.

President Muizzu's explanation of his island trips comes as he has now met with all Maldivian councils, a feat achieved after one year and eight months in office. On December 15 of the previous year, the President had announced his intention to visit all islands in the country by the end of that year.

A central presidential pledge made by President Muizzu was to visit all islands in the country twice during his term and engage directly with their inhabitants.
