Met Office reduces Yellow Alert to White Alert

The National Meteorological Centre (Met Office) has reduced the weather alert from yellow to white.

The yellow alert was given at around 17:30 today.

Weather Forecaster at the Met Office Azeema Ahmed told Sun Online that the alert was reduced to white at 21:45 following reduction in wind speed.

“We issued a yellow alert when winds reached 30 miles per hour. It has now gone down, as we have reduced the alert to white,” she said.

The Met Office uses two weather alerts; white when winds gust between 23 to 30 miles per hour, and yellow when winds gust between 30 to 40 miles per hour.

It also uses two warning alerts; red when wind speed exceeds 40 miles per hour, and green prior to returning to the previous condition after a red alert.
