Police: 2nd murder victim was involved in Irushan’s murder

Police has said that the 14-year-old murdered in the second stabbing last Friday - Fathir Mohamed Ali (M. Sharumaage) - was involved in murder of the 14-year-old Ahmed Irushan Hilmy – who was stabbed earlier that day.

Speaking during a press conference held on Sunday, Deputy Head of Crime Investigation Command, Mohamed Riyaz said that Fathir had been involved in stabbing irushan.

“I want to take this opportunity to note that from what we have found out so far, the boy murdered in the second incident had actively participated in the gang fight that took place earlier, that evening,” said Riyaz.

Riyaz said that CCTV footage showed Fathir was stabbed by one of the two individuals who went into the house just as Fathir was heading out. And that he was stabbed again as he ran up the stairs.

The police said that Fathir was someone who had been under their radar for some time.

Policed said that the gang fights involved mostly minors who they had identified, and were currently working on arresting.

Two minors have already been arrested in connection with Irushan’s murder.

Police said the gang fights took place after disputes between Eagles and Vai Kanmathi on Friday morning.
