Indian hospitals have advised Maldivian patients who travel to India for surgeries to obtain medical visas.
The advice was provided by multiple Indian hospitals participating in the “Maldives Medical and Health Expo 2016” underway at the National Art Gallery.
It includes Global Hospital and Ananthapuri Hospitals – frequented by a lot of Maldivians.
An official from Global Hospital who spoke to “Sun” said that the most frequent issue faced by its Maldivian patients was visa related; when patients who travel for surgery on tourist visa have to go back and return with a medical visa.
“Some patients come on tourist visa fully aware they need to undergo surgery. Even if the surgery can be completed within two days, you can’t be admitted unless you have a medical visa. So we advise Maldivians to come on medical visa,” said the official.
The hospitals noted that Maldivians most frequently travelled for kidney and other stomach surgeries.
The “Maldives Medical and Health Expo 2016” is organized by MV Medicals and MedLife Asia.
Information such as making appointments, consultation, and online follow-up for individual Indian hospitals as well as other important information is available for visitors from the expo.
