Fire burns down Scoop kitchen, blaze under control

Firefighters have put out the blaze which burned through the kitchen of popular ice cream parlor in Male’, Scoop.

Information officer of Maldives National Defense Force, Major Adnan Mohamed reported that the fire originated from the kitchen of the ice cream parlor this Monday, and that the fire is now under control.

The equipment inside the kitchen were damaged beyond repair, and the firefighters are working on controlling the smoke rising from the roof of the building.

MNDF said that there are no reports of any injuries.

The “Sun” reporter on site said that the fire originated from a pot of cooking oil on the stove.

People were evacuated from the buildings surrounding Scoop as a preventive measure.
