The international Starbucks coffee brand has been introduced to Maldives. The brand was introduced during the Food and Hospitality Asia Maldives (FHAM) Exhibition under way at Dharubaaruge by the event’s grand sponsor, Lily Group.
Lily introduced the Starbucks bottled coffee to the Maldivian market.
Assistant Director of Lily International, Faizal Ali reported to “Sun” that the launch was a test to see the scope for the product in the Maldivian market. Faizal said more of Starbucks’ products will be introduced based on the demand.
Lily introduced 200 ml Starbucks Coffee and Starbucks Mocha bottles.
Faizal said Lily imported the product straight from USA, and that both Lily and Starbucks wanted to maintain the quality of the product.
“The shelf life of the product is eight months. It takes four months for it to be imported from America. We said we wanted the best quality products. We didn’t want to import Starbucks coffee to Maldives from a third party,” said Faizal.
He said a lot of Maldivians loved coffee, and that Lily was happy to be able to introduce one of the top coffee brands to the country.
The product is available from Lily F&B outlets and select shops in Male’ City.
Starbucks Belgium Waffles and Starbucks Chips and Starbucks Nuts have also been introduced to Maldives along with the coffee product.
Starbucks is the world’s largest coffeehouse chain.
