Maldives Police Service has said that the opposition protest rally set for tomorrow would not be a peaceful one and so would not be allowed.
Opposition parties are preparing for a major protest rally for tomorrow calling to implement the Supreme Court ruling passed om 1 February 2018.
Speaking at a police press conference today, the Spokesperson, Superintendent Ahmed Shifan said that they have received intelligence that a group of people are preparing to create unrest in the country.
Superintendent Shifan said that with Articles 31 and 32 suspended with the state of emergency, in this situation, public gathering cannot be allowed tomorrow and advised the public not to avail to the call by the oppositions to join the rally.
He said attempts are being made to get many people involved in the unlawful rally and create civil unrest in the country and the strict legal action would be sought against those who attempt such actions.
Shifan said that fire was set to a electrical distribution box powering seven zones, last night and two suspects have been arrested. And six people have been arrested in relation to the three fires set in Addu City last week.
Police have previously, too, said that they have received information that the opposition rally tomorrow aims to create civil unrest.
