The concrete work of the foundation for the King Salman Mosque, being built in the Maldives under free-aid from Saudi Arabia, has begun.
Housing Minister, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu sent out a tweet today saying that the concrete work of King Salman Mosque, a symbol of the strong bond between the Maldives and Saudi Arabia under the foreign policies of President Yameen, is progressing well.
The project worth USD 24.95 million is contracted to a Turkish company, Turmaks. Upon completion, it would be the largest mosque in the Maldives.
King Salman Mosque being built on the land north of Artificial Beach, would have 41,500 square feet with six floors, four elevators along with a parking area of 44,100 square feet.
The mosque is set to have an auditorium and a multipurpose hall along with a world-class library, classrooms and seminar rooms.
Along with the marble area, the mosque can accommodate 10,000 people in prayer at a time.
