19 govt. companies to be liquidated

The government has announced to liquidate 19 companies.

The liquidation list announced by the Finance Ministry includes Maldives Broadcasting Corporation and Health Services Corporations introduced during the former President Nasheed’s administration.

Other companies include the company formed to run the Hithadhoo and Kulhudhuffushi ports as well as Felivaru Fisheries Maldives Pvt and Kooddoo Fisheries Maldives Ltd, Hazaana Maldives, National Investment Management Company and MRDC.

Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer has previously stated that only a few of the 31 government-run companies are profitable.
