15 health workers in Manadhoo isolated

The National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) has announced that 15 health workers in the Atoll Hospital in N. Manadhoo have been isolated.

They were requested to isolate after coming into contact with a positive case of COVID-19 identified in the island.

Speaking ina press conference underway tonight, NEOC spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez said, “15 health care workers of N. Manadhoo have been asked to isolate after contact tracing work. For contact with a patient transported to Male’ City (not connected to COVID-19, nor symptomatic), who later tested positive for the virus.”

In light of this development, the consultation hours of Manadhoo Hospital were reduced and specified only for emergency consolations.

The positive case from Manadhoo is an 80-year old woman. She had visited the capital 14 days before to consult with doctors before returning back to her island. She tested positive after being transferred to Male’ cue to her condition becoming severe.
