ADK Hospital has reduced the prices charged for PCR tests for COVID-19.

A statement by the hospital read that it had established an automated Roch Lightcycler 480 PCR system in its laboratory which resulted in cheaper PCR tests.

The hospital had been charging MVR 1,500 per PCR test for locals while tourists were charged USD 110. Now, the hospital would be charging MVR 1,200 per test from locals and foreigners with work permits while tourists will be charged USD 80 per test.

Criticism has been directed at the hospital by the public for the high prices it charged previously, to which ADK responded by stating that the charges were low when compared with costs for testing. ADK Hospital currently conducts three types of tests for COVID-19 including PCR tests, as well as Anti-body tests, and Rapid tests.
